Dylan Murphy is a podcaster, creator, journalist and tastemaker who started his music podcast Mabfield in 2019. He’s since co-curated shows for BBC1xtra, served as Head of Music & Culture at District Magazine for 5 years, created documentaries for the BBC and interviewed acts like Fred Again.., JPEGMAFIA, The Streets and more. Based in Belfast he’s an advocate for Irish artists and a passionate music head that wants to put Ireland on the map.

Colm Cahalane is the founder of new Irish music platform fourth.best – exploring the rich tapestry of Ireland’s complex and densely interlinked alternative music scenes through monthly essays and frequent gig reports. He has over six years of experience running an independent record label Hausu, advising artists on PR and music distribution, and recording hundreds of hours of community radio. The idea for Fourth Best emerged after speaking at the inaugural River Runs Round festival; during the Dancing About Architecture panel, he noted the immense power of music journalism to provide context in a world where tech platforms thrive on context-less music.

This one-on-one discussion will focus on Dylan’s decision to return to Mabfield, what he’s learned along the way, and his ambitions for the future.
