Circle is a regular production by the team behind River Runs Round. This year, it makes its way to the holy grail of folk music in Cork City – Coughlans. With a new cast of musicians, this show sees three songwriters play music in turns, with an intermission halfway through the show.

ARTISTS

Luke O’Neill

Luke O’Neill is a singer/songwriter from Cork who formerly performed under the name “Damsel”. After a hiatus of several years, he is writing and recording with renewed trepidation. Through the medium of popular music (verses and choruses etc), Luke aims to create songs with the actual solidity of a boot or house or a gun or something. His music is derived variously from the sounds and lyrical sensibilities of – among others – Neil Young, Vashti Bunyan, Alex G and David Berman. He hopes to see you at the show.

Lorkin O’Reilly

Lorkin O’Reilly is a singer, songwriter and producer who writes reflective narratives that fall naturally into the musical spaces he creates; warm, confessional sounds, with nods to traditional folk music. Since immigrating to the United States in 2012, Lorkin has released 2 albums, 3 EP’s and multiple singles as well as touring extensively across the US, UK and Ireland. In 2022, Lorkin moved to Dublin and started a new project called DUG.

Julia Maria

Julia-Maria is emerging at full force from Ireland’s exciting music scene. A mesmerising live act, Julia-Maria uncovers honest intimacies and creates expansive vibrant worlds with her performance. With her hypnotic folk-infused vocals, poignant lyricism and intimate arrangements, Julia-Maria draws you into her stories and invites you to sit and stay awhile.
